I must be honest, it was with immense pride that I was asked by our clients the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to create design proposals for a bespoke brooch in celebration of HRH
The Princess Royal as the newly appointed President of the CWGC. For all the bespoke orders we have been submitting and manufacturing for over 38 years,this request was surely the most special.
A project brief can be left in our very capable creative hands or with the clients ‘must haves’ to be included within the final design presentation, ie; branding logo, colours etc… The brief for this, was a blank canvas, left solely to me! So, after weeks of sketch after pencil sketch, I submitted three drafts to our studio team to take to the next level – a fully enhanced detailed, compatible computer generated presentation to our client upon which one was a clear winner it was important my research reflected both the brooches royal connection & the correct level of respect for the CWG & its historical, global importance, the full relief (3D) Laurel garland surround of a very British symbol of oak leaves intertwined around the CWG monolith branding and hard enamel background to the 22 carat gold plated detailing complimented the overall dignified appearance worthy of our most respected Princess.
Upon approval our toolmakers long established age old & unique skill and expertise creates the intricate relief detailing in wonderful lifelike movement crafted in precious 925 sterling silver with 22 carat plated finish with hard enamel infill & superior safety brooch & chain pin fixing with a jewellery fine stipple reverse enhanced and authenticated with our ML assays mark of quality.
The final finishing touch was for the brooch to be presented into a personalised croco embossed leather case with perfect gold block printing to the lid.
