On recommendation, we were approached in 2018 by The British Consulate of Jerusalem to design & manufacture a bespoke hard enamel badge to accompany & commemorate the official visit by HRH Prince William to Israel. From initial discussions we were instructed all design work carried out was highly confidential as undisclosed versions of the hard enamel plated badge were to be worn by the British PPO (Police Protection Officers) during the tour. The colour versions were one for His Royal Highness & one ( chosen colour unknown) for the protection officers to wear.

The final chosen submitted draft design created by Head of Design Martin Boskett included a connecting repeated garland of Israel’s famous olives, allied to His Royal Highness’s royal cypher in polished 9ct gold & silver plating with hard enamel infilling. The base metal was grade A copper at a thickness of 1.5mm with hand polished finish to the front & side surfaces, the end result, a fabulous example of ML’s skills spanning over 38 years as ‘the’ flagship specialist company within the industry. We chose a superior US made ‘Ballou’ clutch fixing to ensure a firm connection to any thickness of clothing, ie. shirt or suit.

Another more recent ’royal enquiry’ was a request by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) which Head of Design Development & CEO Martin Boskett was immensely proud to accept. The design brief was left completely with ML Badges (Global) & after many weeks of deliberation we finally short listed three draft designs of which one was chosen by the client. The brooch was to be presented to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as newly appointed President of the CWG. The very highest standard of British workmanship was key, crafted by our UK toolmakers traditional age old skills in 925 Sterling Silver with rich 22ct gilded finish in full relief (3D) with vitreous hard enamel infill and safety brooch fixing and safety pin, hallmarked with ML’s Birmingham Assays backstamp, presented in a customised croc finish case with superb gold block printed CWG branded logo lid.
